David Lenda

The local sounds in New Brighton, Pennsylvania, a small town just outside of Pittsburgh, were Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden. At 15 years old David Lenda had four piece Gretch drum set and no idea how to play it. After 9 months of drums, David knew he wanted to be part of the powerful rock movement of the day, but drums wouldn’t be his ticket in. After finding a bass guitar left unattended in his step-brother’s closet, and noticing the immediate openings for working bass players in the area, David found the instrument he was born to play.

David was a quick study and three years later, barely two weeks before his nineteenth birthday; he hit the road starting his career as a traveling musician. After several years touring the east coast David grew weary of the demanding schedule and was ready to head home to Virginia, where his father was now living. David spent six years in Virginia working in various original projects with varying degrees of success, the most of which came from the band ZOE who opened for many national acts including Saigon Kick, REO Speedwagon, and several appearances with Blue Oyster Cult.

David loved the life of a musician, but not always the income. The constant struggle of the starving musician began to outweigh the thrill of live performances; David decided it was time to head to school and left Virginia to head to Ohio’s Youngstown State University. After three years David emerged with a Bachelor’s in computer information systems and a new life style.

Accepting a job in Dayton, Ohio, David’s professional life was now moving along nicely. With his financial burdens resolved David was now able to approach music with a renewed passion. In December of 2000, David met guitarists Scott Miller. Scott was forming a new project, and was immediately impressed by David’s rock solid bass playing. One month later David was back to dominating the local club scene.

David and Scott played together for four years in the very successful Spungewurthy, where David also became good friends with drummer/singer Jason Parker. When it was time to branch off from Spungewurthy, Jason and David joined local band Funky G’s guitarist Evan Wheeler and drummer Craig Carroll in forming Slaphappy, which two members later, became what is now the band Last Call. Through it all David’s unwavering groove has laid the foundation for the bands continued success.
